Evo-lution & a Touch of French

Two exciting things ... in my world anyway ...

First ~ I didn't get a new camera {yet}, but I did get an Evo phone with an awesome camera! So now I can take some photos and share with the world ~ just keep in mind I'm still trying to figure out how to use it :)

Second ~ I came home from work today to see this lovely package waiting for me:

Inside? The lovely pillow covers I ordered on Etsy from Sally at WordGarden. Can I just say how much I freaking love these?!

The print, the fabric, the texture... {le sigh}

Can't wait to spruce up a couple of pillows. And already dreaming of which chair is lucky enough to be adorned with these ~ I may just have to buy more!

Wish List: Burlap, Farmhouse & Beyond

I'm getting pretty ancy without a camera. It's like I do something {semi} cute around the house or put together a {decently} lovely outfit and want to share it with you guys, then I'm reminded that my camera is no longer. *sigh*

So, I'll share another "Wish List" with you, even though I'm not really quite sure what to call it. Over the weekend, the hubs and I went to our local square to celebrate Oktoberfest. While J sipped on German beer, I stole the chance to look in some of the cute shops. And I fell so deeply in love with several items, it's not even funny. Luckily, most of it was well out of my price range, but I'm still dreaming about it all. If I was cool and had an iPhone, I would have taken pictures. But, instead, I've been googling like a madwoman to see if I can't find some similar items.

But imagine lustrious leather chairs combined with this feedsack / burlap type fabric, old vintage spoons, antique whites, farmhouse woods, french accents, old things with a new purpose. One of my favorite new places?

I'm in love.

They have no idea I've become a complete stalker. You can drool over more photos in their blog here. Did I say I'm in love?

Mudroom Part 2...ummm, Part 3?

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th!! Some of you may remember my last post on my mudroom bench cushion dilemma. Well, I've been wrestling with cushions again. And still not in love with any of them, though I think I'm getting closer ... maybe?

First, found this green paisley cushion at Home Depot. It's actually an outdoor cushion, but it works well since J's always throwing his wet fishing jackets up there. My biggest problem is that it's too short on the sides. But, the color would tie in with the color I want to paint the laundry room. But maybe it's a little blah?

Not quite satisfied, I made another trip to Pier 1. And I actually measured this time! They had a greyish-blue cushion online, but the store only had the brown. Love the shape and size, just not sure about the color. {And ignore the pillows, they're definitely going back!}

Blah. Maybe if it was a darker brown or a different fabric, I'd like it better. {On a side note, Taylor Swift has that exact brown flower pillow on her tour bus. Should I care that I know that? Maybe...}

So, once again, the bench sits cushion-less.

From Bedroom to Retreat - Slowly!

After we moved in, the only things we changed in our master bedroom were the door knobs and the light fixture. So last fall, while J was out of town, I decided it was time to finally paint. I didn't think to take a true "before" picture until I'd started moving furniture --

For the paint, I color matched a sample I had and loved it. But, when I went to Lowe's at the last minute before they closed, they couldn't figure out the ratio and ended up color-matching the color match. Do you know where this is going?

Yeah, so at midnight when I started painting, I got half a wall done before bursting into tears. The color I wanted was more of a brownish-grey. The one I got? Definitely all grey and no brown. Now, though, I like it. It's actually quite calming in the mornings when the sun shines through. And it looks great with just about any color.

I just love how kitty likes to be in every picture. Anyway, the real reason for this post? I finally found a spot for my wrought iron beauty.

Yeah, I think we hung it a tad high. Oops! Because it's soo heavy, we had to use anchors ... which equals big holes ... which means it's staying put for awhile. But I do love how the swirls compliment the swirls in this pillow I found at Pier 1.

I'm hoping to find curtains and new lamps soon, maybe a new bed frame. And maybe convince J to hang some crown molding? Definitely! ;)
